Nocturnus
Director: Meltse Van Coillie & Harm Dens
Nocturnus takes you into the darkness. After all, night is not always a time, sometimes it
can be a place. In the northernmost village of our planet, the sun doesn’t show itself during
an entire winter. The villagers crawl close together and doze of into months of hibernation.
This extraordinary phenomenon arouses the interest of some scientists... It’s the young
doctoral student Olivia who first describes human hibernation. Immediately, the European
Space Agency sends its most renowned sleep researcher: Noor. She has to find out
whether Olivia’s scoop would enable distant space travel. Will both women succeed in
shining their light on this enigmatic hibernation? Or does the collaboration falter and do they
grope vainly in the dark?
