Every year more then 800.000 people take their own lives worldwide. That is 1 person every 40 seconds. When someone dies by suicide, families and friends remain behind ... devastated. Conservative estimates say that after every suicide on average 6 to 10 relatives are left behind. Research shows that 20 to 30% of the surviving relatives develop suicidal thoughts themselves and that they have a higher risk of a complicated grieving process. THE GOLDEN FOREST is an interactive documentary intended for those who stay behind. It wants to break the overall taboo of suicide and reveals the power of human resilience... It gives information, guidance and tools to those bereaved by suicide in order to take on a constructive mourning process. It will help users cope better with their feelings and understand the struggles they undergo.
